Welcome! Thank you for visiting our webpage.
A little bit about our gem of a community. The Woodridge community is a quiet, primarily residential neighborhood located in the northeast quadrant of Washington, DC just before crossing Eastern Avenue into Mt. Rainier, MD. The boundaries of our community include Eastern Avenue on the east, Michigan Avenue to the north, and 18th Street to the west, and Bladensburg Road to the south to Queens Chapel Road, then west along the CSX Railroad Tracks to Montana Avenue and 18th Street NE. Residential streets are comprised of mature oaks, big yards and detached Craftsman, Colonials and Bungalows hallmark our community. We also have many parks, both small and large, and recreation spaces.
As our community continues to grow and develop, we are proud of Rhode Island Avenue NE, which is the commercial strip that runs through Woodridge. From a local coffee shop, personal training gym, restaurants, and thriving business, the Avenue is the heartbeat of our quaint community!
Our Civic Association was established in the spring of 1953 and formally registered July 7, 1955. As an outcome of racial barriers, which denied the use of schools and playgrounds in Woodridge, the earliest meetings were held at Slowe Elementary School, in Brookland. The associations aim was to “work for the betterment” of the area and “to inform the citizens of this community of the rights and responsibilities of citizenship”. We are always a “Good Community getting better“.
Our Civic Association Meetings – We invite you to join us for our regular monthly Woodridge Civic Association meeting. From September through June, we meet on the first Tuesday of every month from 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm at the Woodridge Library (1801 Hamlin St NE, in person). As a special notice; In an election year, the November meeting will occur on the second Tuesday of the month.
We now proudly offer additional attendance options by using Zoom teleconferencing (video/audio) or phone call in as well. See our Civic Association Monthly meetings page for links and phone numbers to attend our meetings virtually or via telephone.
